Born and reared in Lake City, SC by her parents Robert and Evangelist Martha Hugee, Melissa Hammond was destined for ministry. Upon graduating high school in 1998, Melissa enlisted in the United States Army where she served for five years. It was during this time Melissa began her walk with the Lord, accepting Jesus Christ as her personal savior and receiving the call to missions. After her conversion, Melissa immediately began sharing her faith with those around her. During the next few years of her life, she worked in various compassion ministries, including Christ Central. She also served in the prison ministry, soul-winning, and used her teaching gift in bible teaching. In 2004, Melissa went on her first missions trip to Panama with her then pastor—Pastor David Ingram and other members of Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. Melissa also sought professional development and received her BA in English from Francis Marion University in 2008.
Melissa believed God was leading her to continue her educational pursuits in Bible training and teaching. Under the leadership of Pastor Wilbur and Naomi White of Ambassadors for Christ Ministry, she received blessings to finish pursuing her education. Currently, Melissa is completing her Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She also ministers as a Bible teacher with Child Evangelism Fellowship in Columbia, SC. She currently serves under the leadership of Bishop Redfern II of The Ecumenical Church and CityLight Ministries and continues to volunteer at Christ Central. It is her sincere desire to serve God in whatever capacity he chooses to lead her. One of her favorite Bible promises is that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:39).
