Reverend Paula Dargan Perry was born in Columbia, South Carolina on August 14th. She is the daughter of the late Elwell and Carrie Dargan McPhail. She was reared in Darlington, South Carolina. She is married to Rev. Samuel Perry and is the mother of three children. Sean, her son who is the eldest child, currently stationed in Germany serves in the United States Army. Samantha, the eldest daughter, is a violist at the Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, South Carolina. Her daughter Amanda, the youngest child, is a freshman at Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, South Carolina. The Perry family is covered and active at the Daniel Circle Chapel on Fort Jackson military base in Columbia, South Carolina.
Paula was educated in the Darlington County public schools, received a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, and a Masters in Computer Studies from North Carolina State University (NC State) in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was licensed in the ministry on January 15, 1995 and was ordained on December 10, 2000 in the Baptist church. She holds a second ordination in the Ecumenical Church, September 2010. She is also currently a student at Erskine Theological Seminary where she is enrolled in the Masters of Divinity program. With a Master’s Degree in Computer Studies, Paula started her professional career in 1987 as an engineer at NCR Corporation; headquartered in Dayton, Ohio. She is currently employed by the State of South Carolina as a Senior Systems Analyst.
Paula gave her life to the Lord at age 11 and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dovesville, South Carolina. However, she thanks God for directing her to NC State for graduate school because it was there she began to fellowship with the United Student Fellowship. So at age 21 while at her bedside, she rededicated her life to Christ and started a journey of maturing in the faith. In 2003, Paula setup an internet prayer ministry, heartofheart.com. Paula now serves as one of the associate pastors at New Gloryland Baptist Church in Elgin, South Carolina where her “Father in the Ministry”, Rev. Willie Stallworth is the Senior Pastor. She also serves as the coordinator/team leader at Daniel Circle Chapel for the “Basic Studies for a Firm Foundation (BSFFF) Ministry” which is a teaching ministry for new converts and those who need a firm foundation in Christ. Paula established the Pre-Teen Church School at Daniel Circle and is currently serves as an intercessor in the Throne Room Ministry at Daniel Circle. In 2005, she started a second prayer group (Northwest Women’s Prayer Group) under Citylight Ministries which has grown to over 2000 prayer groups across the world. She and her husband hold a weekly Bible Study in their home. They also provide Biblical counseling (primarily marriage counseling).
God has blessed her with the gift of teaching. She finds it most gratifying to be considered worthy to teach God's Word in spite of her flaws. God does use broken people. Her favorite scriptures are Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths."
