Return to Our Ministers

Minister Penelopé (Penny) Evans was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She is the daughter of John Wesley Lewis, Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Barco. Penny was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system and received a two year scholarship to Coppin State University where she majored in English.

After two years of college, Penny enlisted in the US Army in pursuit of a better life and to obtain funding to complete her college education. Although, Penny accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age, it was not until 1986 that God began to reveal to her that He had already provided the “better life” she was pursuing. It was then that Penny began to pour herself into the Scriptures and pursue God diligently. God blessed Penny with a love for the Word and the gift of teaching. In 1988, after the death of her grandmother, Penny began to sense the call of God to serve in the ministry of the Gospel of Christ. In 1991, Penny was licensed in the ministry under the covering of the Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church., Inc.

Penny has been blessed to serve in the Body of Christ as a youth director, children’s church leader, Bible teacher, deaconess, women’s fellowship president and youth choir director. Penny currently serves at Daniel Circle Chapel as one of the associate ministers and a teacher for the “Basic Studies for a Firm Foundation (BSFFF) Ministry.” Penny provides the oversight and coordination of events for the Youth Ministry. She currently serves as an intercessor in the Throne Room Ministry.

In 2011, she was privileged to serve as a mentor for the SC National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program. Currently, she partners with First Ecumenical Church to provide biblical teaching for youth who come to Christ.

Penny is married to her best friend, Eric O. Evans, Sr. Eric and Penny are the proud parents of two sons. Their eldest son, Eric, Jr., currently serves in the United States Army.
