Ted Cunningham is a creative preacher, teacher and an excellent role model who is dedicated to his work. Ted maintains high standards for himself as well as those he works with always quietly providing the necessary support to help his peers and fellow co-labors in Christ succeed. Ted is married to the former Toni Morisette. They have 8 grown children and a host of grand and great grand children. He is an active member of Daniel Circle Chapel on Fort Jackson, SC, where he serves on the ministerial staff in a variety of ways. He is also Chief of Staff for CityLight World Wide.
Ted came to Columbia SC after eighteen years of serving as Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church (New Site), Fredericksburg, Virginia. Under his leadership and tenure the church grew and prospered. The congregation grew from 350 to over 1200. Ted drew from his experience as a financial planner and advisor to help this once ailing church reinvigorate itself. His innovative program of debt relief resulted in lasting benefits for this church; debt free with over a million in the bank. Ted knows that it was by the power and grace of God that he was able to do what did.
Ted’s professional career outside of ministry is numerous. He is a retired military veteran; he served over 35 years of active duty. He served in many administrative, management and public relations positions. To name a few; he was a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of CA for years; he supervised the operation of a nursing home with a staff of 35. Ted served on the Seaside, CA City Council and participated in its long and short range municipal planning at city and county level. He also sat on the School Board for Monterey, CA Peninsula Unified School District public schools and participated in selection of curricula at local and state level. He organized and operated a successful import and export business. He was a licensed salesman of Life Insurance, Mutual Funds and Annuities for John Hancock and Northwestern Mutual Funds in Vancouver WA and Portland, OR. He was a member of Toastmasters International. Ted has applied his biblical, academic and practical experience to a variety of consultancies for major corporations and political agencies throughout the world. Ted has received numerous multi cultural and humanitarian awards over the years for his outstanding contributions to the many organizations he has been actively involved in.
Ted received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from The Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington in 1984, an Associate Degree in Business Management and Financial Planning, from N. W. State University, Maryville, Missouri, 1978, an Associate Degree in Life Insurance from Monterey Peninsula College, Monterey, California, 1976, a Virginia Teaching Certificate in Business and a Doctorate and Masters Degree in Ministry, from Trinity Evangelical Seminary. He was also ordained in The Ecumenical Church in 2011.
Outside of professional interests, he and his wife Toni loves to travel and enjoys spending time with their ever expanding family spread out across the Continental USA.
Ted’s favorite scripture is Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
